Create your own Upholstered Bedhead

February 27, 2014 Upholstered bedhead Fabric

  • MDF Board 8mm thickness
  • 50mm Medium Density Foam
  • Dacron
  • Staple Gun & Staples
  • Marker – pen or pins
  • Fabric
  • Interlocking Wall Brackets

  1. Cut MDF to desired size (Hardware store may do this for you).
  2. Cut Foam to same size as MDF.
  3. Cut Dacron & Fabric to size adding 30cm to width & height.
  4. Lay Dacron on floor, place Foam on top then sheet of MDF. Tip: On large bedhead you may prefer to glue Foam to board.  Adhesive spray is usually simplest.
  5. Staple Dacron to MDF about 3-4cm from edge. Tip: Staple sparingly as it is only to hold everything in place and round off Foam.
  6. Mark Dacron on the reverse side at middle of top, bottom and sides.
  7. Lay out Fabric (reverse side up).  Mark middle of top, bottom and sides.
  8. Place bedhead on top with Dacron side down.
  9. Match up the markings.  Staple Fabric 5cm from edge on each of the markings.  This ensures Fabric is straight.
  10. Using slight tension, staple top, bottom and side.
  11. Neatly fold corners and staple.
  12. Trim off excess Fabric.
  13. Using brackets attach Bedhead to wall.
